We are delighted to announce the appointment of experienced pharmaceutical product development professional Ami Patel PhD.
With more than 15 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Ami joins Boyds as Senior Director of Product Development based at Boyds’ US office.
Ami has a PhD in Pharmaceutics from Long Island University, Brooklyn. Her career experience spans formulation research and development, business development and project management and technical consulting, with specialist expertise in product development from concept to commercialisation.
Prior to Boyds, she was Senior Director of Product Development and Alliance Management at Skillman-based VGYAAN Pharmaceuticals, and previously held operations and technical positions at Philadelphia pharmaceutical contract research organisation (CRO), Absorption Systems.
Boyds opened its US office in Philadelphia last year in the wake of increased demand for its specialist services and expertise. With over 60 percent of Boyds’ client base now in the US, the office is the ideal location for many of Boyds’ East Coast clients.
At Boyds, Ami will provide product development and program management support to Boyds’ US clients, including development advice, scientific and business support for start-up companies and academic spinouts, due diligence, and assisting clients with grant applications, fundraising and partnerships. In addition, she will play a significant role in developing Boyds’ US business by acquiring new product development and program management projects, cross selling the company’s wider services, and working and partnering with industry organisations.
Of her appointment, Ami said: “I’ve always wanted to be in a meaningful role that allowed me to support clients in identifying and developing cutting-edge medical treatments and technologies, but what really sealed the deal for me and attracted me to join Boyds was the company’s specific focus on helping bring more products to the market and making a real, tangible impact on patients.
“My personal experience of spending two weeks in the hospital with my six-week-old baby and feeling utterly helpless, despite the availability of all the best resources, has inspired me to pursue working with the innovators of new advanced therapies to find solutions to problems and commercialize the therapies needed so that someday, this feeling of helplessness can be alleviated for some people.”
