Over the past eight weeks, Ege Ulusoy, a master’s student in Digital Marketing at the University of Manchester, has been working with Boyds as a Marketing Intern. In this guest blog, she reflects on her experience – from supporting brand and digital campaigns to developing new skills and gaining insight into marketing within the life sciences sector.
As a master’s student in Digital Marketing at the University of Manchester, I have always been fascinated by how strategy, creativity, and data come together to shape impactful communication. When I joined Boyds as a Marketing Intern, I was eager to put theory into practice and gain hands-on experience within the health and life sciences sector – an area that I have long been interested in.
During my two-month internship, I worked closely with the marketing team to support the delivery of Boyds’ marketing plan. This included developing initiatives to strengthen the Boyds brand, engaging with key audiences through digital channels, and contributing to campaigns designed to raise awareness and drive lead generation.
I had the chance to work with a range of tools, including Google Analytics, and LinkedIn Campaign Manager, which allowed me to deepen my technical skills and learn how these platforms can be used strategically in a B2B context. I was also involved in content development and campaign planning, which gave me a better understanding of how marketing aligns with business goals in a specialist consultancy environment.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my internship was seeing how marketing can help communicate the complex but vital work that Boyds does in drug development. It was inspiring to work alongside such a talented and knowledgeable team and to contribute, in my own way, to amplifying their expertise and impact.
Overall, my time at Boyds has been an invaluable experience. I’ve gained practical skills, confidence in using industry-standard tools, and insights into how marketing can shape perceptions in the life sciences sector. Most importantly, I’ve had the privilege of working with a supportive and welcoming team who made this journey both enjoyable and inspiring.
