Clinical pharmacology student completes internship with Boyds

Boyds recently welcomed Clinical Pharmacology BSc student Salma Muse to the team on a six-week internship.

Clinical pharmacology student Salma, who is studying at St George’s, University of London, has been involved in projects across Boyds’ various departments including our Clinical and Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, and Marketing teams.

Amongst her tasks and responsibilities, Salma worked on an orphan drug designation document, a quality check for a protocol to develop her medical writing skills, collated informative slide decks, and learnt about clinical trial management and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). She has also undertaken a marketing project to enhance the company’s CRM system and identify scope for further business development.

Speaking about her internship at Boyds, Salma says: “Through this placement, I hoped to gain a more varied understanding of the different job roles within the drug development space and learn more about regulatory affairs. At Boyds, I was able to do all of this and more. I completed hands-on regulatory training and varied tasks under the supervision of consultants. In the future, I would feel privileged to work in any capacity across any stage of the drug development pipeline, but it is clinical trial management that interests me the most.”

We are always interested to hear from university students looking to gain experience in drug development. Find out more about working at Boyds here.
