Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)

The very nature of the work carried out by Boyds is focused on supporting the global development of medicines for patient benefit. That remains core to Boyds’ values and strategy and is why the company exists.

In support of this, we take a proactive approach to ESG and sustainable practices.

Environmental

As a drug development consultancy business, we take several actions to reduce our carbon footprint, including:

Hybrid and remote working

  • Where possible, our business activities are conducted online to reduce national and international travel, with flexible homeworking encouraged

Recycling strategy

  • We have established a recycling strategy for paper and other recyclable materials, encouraging employees to operate a clear desk policy and use digital documentation to reduce paper usage.
  • We advocate the use of recycled materials where appropriate
  • Additionally, we have implemented recycling programmes for office equipment, including the repurposing of electronics

Sustainable supply chain

  • We work with clients and partners to adopt sustainable practices throughout the supply chain and conduct lifecycle analyses to identify and mitigate environmental impacts at each stage of the product or service lifecycle
  • Services such as IT support, office supplies and professional services are sourced from local companies to support the local economy

Employee environmental awareness

  • Boyds is committed to educating employees about sustainability practices to encourage their participation in green initiatives

Social

Boyds’ social committee was established with the purpose of supporting local and aligned charities as well as nurturing a sense of internal community across the company’s offices. 

Governance

Boyds is led by the Executive Leadership Team which is responsible for developing and agreeing the company strategy.

The company’s governance structure consists of four sub-committees that report to the Board. Each of these sub-committees is focused on an area of business performance and responsible for delivering part of the business plan.

Boyds has a supplier code of conduct which sets out ethical behaviour guidelines for how the company works with clients. Suppliers are expected to adhere to the same ethical principles including all applicable laws, regulations and standards within the geographies in which they operate. Moreover, we strive to engage in long-term relationships with suppliers that comply with our code of conduct.

Our team of experts provides a wide range of expertise and skills central to the development of pharmaceutical and biotechnology medicinal products and medical devices.
