London Life Sciences Week 2025: highlights and key takeaways

London Life Sciences WeekLondon Life Sciences Week (LLSW) returned this year bigger and busier than ever – a true celebration of the innovation, investment, and global collaboration shaping the future of our sector.

As a proud Bronze sponsor, Boyds was delighted to be part of this landmark week. The event once again brought together leaders, pioneers, investors, and innovators from around the world, offering a powerful snapshot of what’s possible in life sciences today.

Our LLSW experience

This year, Boyds attended a number of different events and met colleagues, partners, and new faces from every corner of the globe. Across biotech, advanced therapies, and digital health, the range and quality of innovation on display were truly inspiring. The energy across London all week highlighted not only the scale of the LLSW event, but also its growing international influence.

Key themes from LLSW

Opportunities and challenges in the global life sciences market were discussed in the sessions, with key themes including:

  1. A buoyant global biotech market

There was widespread recognition that the public biotech markets in the US and Asia are surging ahead. With the US Federal Reserve moving to lower interest rates, biotech is increasingly attractive to investors. Valuations are strengthening, and the Chinese biotech market has been particularly strong. Despite geopolitical uncertainty, the Chinese market is maturing as  it transitions from a manufacturing base to a global innovation hub..

  1. Funding remains challenging for early-stage ventures

A key concern discussed throughout the week was the difficulty smaller companies face in raising capital. Many are spending 12–18 months securing funding. Whilst large global investors are increasingly turning their attention to Europe, and backing major programmes, the early-stage funding gap remains.

  1. London’s reputation continues to rise

There was a clear consensus that London is still the number one place in Europe to raise capital and grow biotechnology companies, supported by strong talent, world-leading universities, and a growing base of innovators and lab facilities.

Neil Fish, Chief Business Officer at Boyds, said: “The mood across the week was one of cautious optimism. London remains one of the most exciting places in the world to innovate, collaborate, and raise capital in life sciences, and this year’s LLSW proved that more clearly than ever.”

Looking ahead

We’d like to thank everyone who helped deliver such an outstanding week of events, to all who connected with us, and to those who contributed to the inspiring discussions that took place. We’re excited to carry this momentum into 2026 and see LLSW continue to grow.
