Laurence Skillern is Chief Medical Officer at Boyds, bringing extensive experience in pharmaceutical medicine and clinical development across a broad range of therapeutic areas.
He is responsible for leading Boyds’ clinical and medical service, supporting clients across the full drug development lifecycle, and strengthening the organization’s clinical and scientific capabilities.
Laurence has held senior roles across both global pharmaceutical companies and emerging biotech organisations, where he has played a key role in shaping clinical development strategies and advancing pipeline assets through critical development milestones. He has deep therapeutic expertise spanning women’s health, urology, rheumatology, neurodegenerative and metabolic diseases, as well as CNS and dermatological indications.
Over the course of his career, Laurence has led complex clinical programs from early-phase development through to late-stage trials and regulatory submission, supporting interactions with regulatory authorities and contributing to the progression of innovative therapies towards approval and patient access. He is recognised for his ability to integrate scientific insight with strategic leadership to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients.
Laurence has also worked as a senior medical assessor at the UK Medicine Control Agency (MHRA predecessor) and headed up an academic Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) as a Visiting Professor at the University of East Anglia.
