This year marks 20 years since Mel Entwisle, Finance Manager at Boyds, joined the company. Mel was Boyds’ second employee and has worked with Professor Alan Boyd MBE, founder and CEO of Boyds, since 2006 to grow and develop it into the global business it is today.
In recognition of the milestone, Alan Boyd said, “In the beginning, Mel helped and supported me with what we needed to do to get the business formally off the ground. Over the years, Mel has progressed her career with Boyds and taken on more responsibility within the finance group. I want to take the opportunity to thank her for all her contributions, support and advice and that she has given me and the business during this time.”
Mel’s reflections on 20 years
Mel shares some highlights from her time at Boyds to date:
“Boyds has been such a big part of my life, and so much has happened along the way.
From that very first small office at Electra House with just Alan Boyd and me, to a sweltering summer move within the building simply for the luxury of air conditioning (those little things really do matter!). From there, we eventually amalgamated four offices to accommodate a team of ten. Add to that an office in Cambridge and another in the US, and today we’re a total of 42 employees strong,
“When I think back to the very early days and the number of clients we worked with then, not much more than a handful, compared to how many we work with now…well I don’t have enough fingers and toes!
“The Boyds Annual Meeting at Fawsley Hall in October 2021 stands out as the most memorable moment for me. 2021 was truly the year Boyds’ growth took off. Previous annual meetings had been small, intimate gatherings of perhaps ten people at most. But Fawsley Hall brought together more than 30 colleagues, some of whom had only just joined, and others who were about to.
“It was an incredibly emotional event. With a circus theme and Alan Boyd as the ringmaster, it was all about connection, teamwork, and shared experience. Meeting everyone, feeling that collective energy, and sensing the eagerness to make Boyds the success it is today was truly wonderful, and something I’ll always treasure.”
The team at Boyds would like to congratulate Mel on her 20th anniversary at the company and thank her for her hard work and dedication.
